The Homestead

Conservatory

The 'Conservatory' with its spectacular glass ceiling welcomes warm sunsets at dusk and is designed to reflect candlelight at night like a mirror.

The Conservatory can cater for small and large receptions, with either banquet or round tables. Featuring light-filled reception area is extended to bring the outdoors in.

Bride's Retreat

The Bride's Retreat is a special section of the Homestead that can be used by the bride and bridesmaids to get ready including hair and makeup.

After photos, the Bride's Retreat is a great place for the bridal party to 'freshen-up' before the reception.

Ballroom

This is one of Gabbinbar Homestead's most historic rooms. Lord Lamington and numerous other personalities over the past 100 years have danced their night away in our Ballroom.

Now, of course, it is simply perfect for the first dance and a celebration with your guests.

Library

The Library is one of two special sitting rooms at Gabbinbar Homestead.

With a lovely open fireplace and Chesterfield lounges, the Library is a popular photo location and later at night can even be used as a cigar and scotch station!

Parlour

The Parlour is one of two special sitting rooms at Gabbinbar Homestead.

Opening out on to the Front Verandah the Parlour has a lovely open fireplace and unique antique French occasional chairs.

Front Verandah

Nothing quite says "Queensland" like a verandah and the Gabbinbar Homestead Front Verandah is large enough to give over 100 guests expansive views across much of the Gabbinbar Homestead estate.

The Front Verandah faces North which makes it warmer in Winter and cooler in Summer.

Courtyard

Through five sets of double French doors, the Conservatory opens out on to a delightful Southern terrace that we like to call the 'Courtyard'.

Here guests can enjoy the night sky and open space whilst still being connected to the reception.

Planning Room

Tucked away on the Western end of Gabbinbar Homestead is the original 'long-lunch' room, which we now use as an inspiring setting for wedding planning meetings.

During your wedding this room is a perfect space to give photographers and other wedding vendors somewhere private to rest, recharge and store equipment.

Beautiful Ceremonies

The Pavilion

The Pavilion features a timber floor, open sides, white cathedral ceiling and stunning chandeliers.

At Gabbinbar Homestead you can choose anywhere in the gardens to hold your ceremony, however, it is hard to look past this incredibly beautiful building.

Governor's Lawn

Situated perfectly underneath a 150 year old fig tree, Governor's Lawn is one of the most popular areas for ceremonies at Gabbinbar Homestead.

We provide white outdoor chairs, a signing table, and even include staff to hang your decorations from the tree.

Old Gates

The Old Gates is the most popular outdoor location in the gardens at Gabbinbar Homestead for wedding ceremonies.

With flowering ornamental pear trees lining each side and a Himalayan cedar centred at the end, this area is entered through 100 year old gates.

Conservatory

The Conservatory is a simply beautiful space for a ceremony with a cocktail or outdoor reception style.

Garden Party

Front Lawns

When you first arrive at Gabbinbar Homestead the Driveway opens out on to the front lawns of the estate.

These lawns are perfect for entertaining your guests with garden games, food and drinks while you are having photos.

Croquet Lawn

The Croquet Lawn, complete with a timber croquet set, is surrounded by manicured hedges and is guaranteed to keep your guests entertained while you are having photos.

For very large weddings the Croquet Lawn can hold a marquee with direct access to the Homestead.

Chess

One of our passions at Gabbinbar Homestead is to give your guests a memorable garden party while you and your bridal party take photos and the giant chess set located in the middle of the gardens is a definite crowd pleaser!

Stunning Photo Locations

Old School House

At every turn, the Gabbinbar Homestead gardens are a photographer's dream and the Old School House is no exception.

Originally used to educate Lord Nelson's children and then later turned into a Billiard Room during the war, the Old School House still stands as a historic and quaint photo location.

Fields

In addition to the beautiful gardens, there are several wide open spaces that capture sunsets.

It is your home on the day and you are welcome to use the entire estate for photos.

Magnolia Tree

Right in the centre of the Gabbinbar Homestead gardens is a giant flowering magnolia tree.

Our gardening team love this tree so much that they have permanently hung 12 vintage lanterns from its branches and thus created one of the most photographed locations on the estate.

The Woods

The Woods is a pocket of the gardens to escape to a place seemingly far far away...

At Night

When the sun sets, the Gabbinbar Homestead garden becomes even more beautiful by night with warm feature lighting throughout.

Stables

Nestled in the Eastern corner of the gardens are the Gabbinbar Homestead Stables. You and your guests are welcome to explore, take photos and feel the history of a bygone era.

Our waiters will serve you food and drinks wherever you may wander, so as in all sections of the gardens, you can enjoy exceptional service in the Stables whilst exploring.

Driveway

The entrance Driveway at Gabbinbar Homestead is a fitting entrance for the most special occasions.

Each side of the pebble Driveway is lined with clivia, ficus trees and warm lamps.

Bamboo Grove

Located behind the Homestead is a grove of giant bamboo.

You and your guests can venture inside the cathedral-like Bamboo Grove for spectacular photos...

Swing

Every garden needs a good swing and we are please to have two of them at Gabbinbar Homestead.

The Swing is a definite recommendation at sunset to capture rays of light streaming through the tree canopy.

Tennis Court

A tennis court for guests to enjoy and some fun photos.
