Gabbinbar Homestead - Australia’s most popular wedding destination and winner of 2018 Queensland Caterer of the Year and East Street Kitchen - the Darling Down’s largest and most experienced off-premises caterer, will this year collaborate to deliver an exceptional dining event for the 70th Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Qantas Gala Dinner.
The unique culinary collaboration will see head chefs, Bernhard Kohlhuber of Gabbinbar Homestead and Penny Hely of East Street Kitchen, work together to create a menu inspired by the Darling Downs reputation for country hospitality and world-class produce.
“We are really excited about our collaboration with East Street Kitchen for this year’s Qantas Gala Dinner. We share a vision to educate our guests about what our region has to offer, about sustainability and celebrating local produce,” says Bernhard Kohlhuber, Head Chef of Gabbinbar Homestead.
“We are looking forward to serving some spectacular dishes that highlight both teams’ culinary prowess and we’re really excited to create a fantastic evening.”
Guests will be taken on a sensory experience across the region tasting innovative flavours and experiencing unique ways of dining during six distinct courses. The menu will incorporate and feature locally-source produce from a range of providers including Borrowdale Pork, Bunya Cheese, UB’s Farm, Mort & Co, 9Dorf Farms, The Bakers Duck, Bunnyconnellen and Metiisto Artisan Chocolate.
“I fulfilled a lifelong passion for cooking when we launched East Street Kitchen, and two decades after completing my chef training, I am still passionate about delicious and beautiful food. I’m excited for our guests to enjoy our creations,” says Penny Hely of East Street Kitchen.
