Lori and Lachlan organised every detail in this breathtaking April wedding with intentionality in mind, from the venue to the stunning florals, and the glamorous outdoor cocktail bar. With a shared love of the outdoors, hosting dinner parties, and taking any opportunity to celebrate with family and friends they wanted their day to have a relaxed and fun, yet elevated feel.
Having met several years ago, with a little determination from Lachie, the couple kept crossing paths and eventually went on their first date. It wasn't long before they knew this was the start of something special.
' I met Lach when I was 19 and he was 22. I wasn't looking for a relationship at the time, but it was as if the universe had other plans and we just kept crossing paths. The spark was undeniable, and after a bit of persistence from Lach - we went on our first date. Seven years on and we are now married, renovating our little Queenslander home, have two fur babies, and we've built a life together that is everything we have ever wanted and more. First and foremost - we are best friends. We love a good time and we'll jump on any excuse to have a drink or throw a dinner party.'
With a clear vision and set of priorities for their day, they quickly knew that Gabbinbar Homestead was the perfect venue for them. Gabbinbar's spectacular gardens, elegant ceremony locations, and conservatory provided the ideal space to host their larger yet intimate celebration.
'Gabbinbar was the first and last venue we viewed, and we just fell in love. We had three main priorities for our day - we wanted a fun and relaxed vibe, we wanted it to look breathtakingly beautiful and we wanted our guests to have the best time. It only took one meeting with Gabbinbar to know that they could deliver on everything we wanted. They were so accommodating to requests, supportive in planning and their customer service in the lead-up and on the day was flawless. We felt so calm and comfortable, and our guests had the best day! It truly was the perfect venue.'
After deciding on the all-important date and venue, but before delving any deeper into their wedding planning journey, Lachlan and Lori sat down and curated a list of their 'non-negotiables'. Establishing this framework and defining their priorities early allowed them to quickly orientate their decision-making process when some of the 'tougher' planning calls had to be made.
'At the very beginning of the planning process, we sat down and made a list of our three non-negotiables for the day. Then when it came to making some of the 'harder' decisions for the wedding, we would always come back to those three things, which helped keep our priorities in check. I would also recommend starting planning early and be organised - it is the best way to stay ahead of typical 'wedding stress' and allows you to relax and enjoy the lead up to your big day!'
With a successful career as an event stylist, Lori took the reins customising the styling and the theme of her wedding. Starting with a breathtaking colour palette, it was no surprise that the blush and dusty pink tones incorporated throughout set the tone for a classic yet on-trend day. Megan Grace Flora brought Lori's floral dreams to life, styling the ceremony, garden party, and reception spaces with a luxe fusion of dried and fresh florals. Incorporating varied textures and tones, Megan chose white orchids, blush roses, babies breath, peach ranunculus, and pampas grass as the primary blooms of choice.
'As an event stylist myself, this was my favourite part of the planning process. I went with classic/ romance meets a touch of garden and whimsical. Our colours consisted of- whites, soft pinks, dusty rose and a small colour pop of orange. Gabbinbar is such a classic homestead, and the venue's versatility allowed me to incorporate my style into the conservatory, gardens and pavilion. I wanted something light, timeless and breathtakingly beautiful, and we were ecstatic with the final product.'
Working with the creative design team at Sphere Bridal Lori chose the 'Airlie Gown' with square neckline and hand-beaded fabric from Jane Hill's Cali Dreaming SS20 collection. Partnering the Airlie with a custom made detachable overskirt which she could shed for the evening's formalities and reception, Lori accessorised with a cascading veil, heels by Windsor Smith and understated pearl earrings.
' I wore the Airlie Gown by Jane Hill with a custom made overskirt which I designed with the help of Sarah and Maralyn from Sphere Bridal. This dress was a dream, and I have never felt more beautiful than I did on my wedding day.'
Not to be left behind in the styling stakes, Lachlan wore a classic black suit with silk lapel from MJ Bale with a black bowtie and bespoke cufflinks. While Lori and her bridesmaids spent the morning preparing in the luxurious Bride's Retreat at Gabbinbar Homestead, Lachan and the groomsmen played croquet, and captured their finishing touches photos in the homestead's library.
As Lachlan waited beneath the symmetrical floral arbour, Lori walked down the aisle to 'I Can't Help Falling in Love' by Kina Granis. The couples beloved pooches also were in attendance during the ceremony and playing a VIP role as ringbearers. With some laughter and tears, the couple said 'I do' in a heartfelt ceremony in front of their nearest and dearest.
Moving onto the celebrations in the gardens, the cocktails and champagne flowed, guests were served an assortment of mouth-watering canapes including smoky BBQ pork belly with smooth parsnip puree and green apple alongside seared scallops with smoky sweetcorn puree and pancetta. To ensure they could effortlessly flow between mingling with guests and capturing the perfect wedding album, the couple chose the talented Bianca Virtue and Sam Caslick to document their day.
'We loved all of our vendors, but our two standouts would be our photographer - Bianca Virtue and our videographer Sam Caslick. They both delivered a flawless final product and they were so amazing to be around on the day! We had so much fun with them both.'
As the sun slipped away behind the towering Bunya Pines, guests were ushered inside to be wowed by a reception space festooned with glittering fairy lights, lowset pastel floral arrangement, and bespoke menus and place settings. Stealing some moments together with their bridal party, while guests were seated, the couple took the opportunity to turn the volume up on their celebrations and party a little more before the evening formalities.
' After our photos were finished, before we entered the reception, we snuck back into the bridal retreat with our bridal party and their partners. We put on our favourite tunes, ordered a few rounds of cocktails and danced around that room like a bunch of kids. I don't think I have ever felt a better vibe than the one in that room. Our closest friends, those 'just married' feels - it was the BEST. We were so glad that we took that moment just to take it all in. The day is always so busy and go go go so it was nice to have that little break in the day to slow it down.'
The couple's first dance in the Gabbinbar ballroom, with the letters 'Mrs and Mrs Tuite' lit up in the background, signalled the start of the night partying with the duo of Xy and Ness from Vibe Creators keeping the tunes and the good times flowing. Then after popping outside for a moment to capture more portraits amongst the glow of the night garden, Lori and Lachlan returned to continue the festivities and dance the remainder of the night away with their nearest and dearest.
