Gabbinbar Homestead, located in Toowoomba, hosts up to 200 weddings a year, making it one of Australia’s favourite wedding destinations and an important contributor to the local economy.
Mrs Currie said, “Gabbinbar Homestead continues to innovate and introduce new food experiences to ensure we are at the forefront of excellence. We offer our couples exceptionally high attention to service, we focus on using local produce where possible and offer guests an abundance of delicious food. All of this contributes to Gabbinbar Homestead receiving extremely positive feedback from our guests.”
In addition to winning 2019 Queensland Caterer of the Year again, Gabbinbar Homestead also won the award for 2019 best Wedding Caterer for the second-time running.
More than 150 restaurants, cafes and catering businesses from Queensland and the Northern Territory gathered to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged across 37 categories, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence ceremony held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged program that celebrates outstanding service and culinary talent across both QLD and the NT. The Awards are judged by an independent team of trained judges who anonymously visit the venues to determine the restaurant/café winners. The scores are based on the entire dining experience from food to the customer service.
Gabbinbar Homestead will finish the year on a high as the caterer for the 70th Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers Gala Dinner – in collaboration with East Street Kitchen.
The unique culinary experience will see head chefs, Bernhard Kohlhuber of Gabbinbar Homestead and Penny Hely of East Street Kitchen, work together to create a menu inspired by the Darling Downs reputation for country hospitality and world-class produce.
“We are really excited about our collaboration with East Street Kitchen for this year’s Qantas Gala Dinner. We share a vision to educate our guests about what our region has to offer, about sustainability and celebrating local produce,” says Bernhard Kohlhuber, Head Chef of Gabbinbar Homestead.
