Five show-stopping trends that we will never forget

11 December 2017

As 2017 comes to a close we thought we’d look back on some of our favourite wedding trends from this year. We’ve had a mix of destination weddings with couples flying in from all over the country as well as beautiful weddings of local Toowoomba couples. At Gabbinbar Homestead you can personalise and tailor your wedding to suit your style which is all part of ‘The Gabbinbar Experience’. Here are five show-stopping trends from 2017 that we will never forget.

1. Décor trends going green

We were certainly green with envy when we saw these lavish green floral arrangements at Gabbinbar Homestead weddings this year. Green was the colour of the year with many tables lined with stunning rich green foliage. Plus, our ceremony location, ‘The Woods’ which we revealed this year is right on point with this trend. Surrounded by a richness of green leaves, ‘The Woods’ provided a unique ceremony location for many Gabbinbar couples this year.

2. Fun food presentation and dynamic desserts

This year we’ve seen the wedding industry take food presentation to the next level. Food is no longer being presented purely to be consumed, now it is often a work of art admired by guests before they take their first bite. In 2017 we launched our new menu at Gabbinbar Homestead, the menu is an inspirational modern Australian menu with subtle European influences. It features our new dessert, ‘Chocolate & Rose’ which our Head Chef, Bernhard presents beautifully. We think it’s definitely Instagram worthy, don’t you?

3. Floral arrangements go vertical

Many of our Gabbinbar Homestead brides have transformed our ‘Conservatory’ and created their own unique reception venue. We loved all of the breathtaking floral arrangements hanging from the glass ceiling of our ‘Conservatory’. Vertical floral arrangements can add a whole new dimension to your styling which leave your guests speechless when they walk into the room.

4. Creative ice breakers

In 2017 we saw the introduction of creative ice breakers really take off. Creative ice breakers provide a helpful nudge to get your wedding guests mixing and mingling and they are particularly helpful if your wedding guests are from different parts of the country or social groups. At Gabbinbar Homestead we provide a range of fun lawn games plus interactive food stations such as our antipasto banquet and Pimms drinks station. These games always get everyone chatting like old friends in no time.

5. Natural timber top tables

Natural, rustic and earthy tones were probably one of the biggest styling trends of 2017. We had our fingers right on the pulse with this trend and this year we introduced beautiful natural timber top tables to our selection of reception tables. At Gabbinbar Homestead you can now choose between three different table styles as well as three different chair styles for your reception.
