Purple jacarandas in bloom, majestic ancient trees, twinkling lights and lush green grounds
One of the biggest drawcards of a beautiful wedding day at Gabbinbar Homestead is enjoying the historic gardens. With many of the trees planted over 150 years ago and lush green grounds cared for meticulously by our team of dedicated gardeners, the Gabbinbar Homestead garden is like no other.
Each season has its own unique beauty, but there is nothing more magical than experiencing the gardens in the full bloom of summer, with birds singing from the tree tops and dappled light filtering through the towering trees. Here are three magical moments to take advantage of in our summer garden.
1. THE SEA OF PURPLE JACARANDAS
Come late Spring, a sea of purple petals from the Jacaranda trees often will blanket the lush green grounds of Gabbinbar’s garden, making it one of the most unique times of the year for a wedding. The purple blooms make for stunning photos, but the best part of saying ‘I do’ as the Jacarandas flower? As they bloom each year, they bring back beautiful wedding day memories.
2. VOWS UNDER THE ANCIENT FIG
There is something amazing about standing at the base of a towering 150 year old fig to exchange vows with your love in front of family and friends. Many of the trees were planted at Gabbinbar Homestead back in 1863 growing from small seedlings into majestic trees with roots firmly planted in the earth. The ancient fig symbolises wonder, growth and lasting strength: a perfect metaphor for couples at the beginning of a life of growth and love.
3. A BALMY FIESTA UNDER THE STARS
The gardening team spend all year tending to the lush green gardens and they love it when their hard work is enjoyed to the fullest. For guests wanting to maximise the summer party vibe, there’s nothing better than an outdoor reception under the stars. The warm weather, beautiful catering and summertime vibe makes for an occasion to remember!
